The Department of Biomedical Engineering at UC Davis invites applications for an Assistant Professor position with emphasis on neural bioengineering. The BME Department has 31 faculty members and is ranked 6th in the nation in annual research expenditures (NSF rankings). The Department has existing strengths in the areas of tissue engineering, cellular and molecular engineering, biomechanics, biomedical imaging, micro/nano systems, therapeutics, and computational/systems biology.
A research emphasis in neural engineering is preferred with the ability to integrate and complement the existing research strengths within BME in quantitative biology tools, tissue engineering, stem cell biology, nanotechnology/nanotherapeutic drug delivery, degenerative diseases, and imaging/optics. Research emphasis toward clinical translation is favored. Successful candidates are expected to integrate and complement the existing research strengths within BME, and the various campus efforts (e.g., the TEAM Institute, the School of Medicine, and the School of Veterinary Medicine).
