UC Davis Biomedical Engineering Leach Lab member Tomas Gonzalez-Fernandez is the recipient of a 2019 American Heart Association postdoctoral fellowship.
This prestigious two-year award will support, strengthen and enhance Gonzalez-Fernandez’s research into treating diabetic wounds, especially through the study of nerve and blood-vessel formation and the development of new skin-wound materials through such means as 3D printing.
Gonzalez-Fernandez was in Dublin at his Trinity College Ph.D. graduation when he received the exciting news, giving him yet another important reason to celebrate.
“I’ve been here working with Professor Kent Leach for several months now and it’s good I can continue my research here with an excellent mentor like Kent and with this generous fellowship,” he added. “I called my parents in Spain right away to let them know I will be at UC Davis for two more years!”
Congratulations on both your fellowship and graduation, Tomas!
